So, if you love margaritas ... (maybe you had margaritas on your first date)  ...  create a Margarita Signature Drink for your wedding.  Here are some interesting recipes:

P.S. I promise to try and least 2 this weekend and report back with the results.  Likewise, if you decide to taste test some of these recipes - I'd love to hear about it!

Marriage License Fee Increase

Effective today - July 1, 2009 - the cost of a Colorado marriage license has increased from $10 to $30.   Yes, it's a large increase but the national average is $35 and Colorado did have the second cheapest fee in the nation, Massachusetts is only $4.  On the bright side, at least you're not getting married in Minnesota where a license costs $100.

The additional revenue generated by the increase will be used to fund the Colorado Domestic Abuse Program which support services at local, community- based  domestic  abuse programs and ensure that services to victims of domestic abuse and their children are readily available throughout Colorado.

Wedding Day Details

Love these details from a recent wedding at the Denver Botanical Gardens

Kari_details

Prepared for the Weather
Umbrellas were given to guests as they entered the reception site with a note that read, "To provide some shade in case it shines, to keep you dry in case it rains."

Fun Favors
For those guests that did not dress in comfy shoes, a tub of colorful flip flops were available in a variety of sizes.  The perfect footwear for strolling through the gardens and ripping up the dance floor.

Comfort Food
Yummy shots of cold milk & warm chocolate chip cookies were served as a late-night snack.

Thanks to Karie Mclain Photography for sharing these images with us. You can view the complete wedding on Karie's blog.

Idea: Country-style Wedding Prop

Love This!

A 1948 Ford F1 pickup serves as a unique picnic-style appetizer station for a laid-back country inspired reception.  Pre-ceremony, the tailgate was used to serve refreshing beverages of sweet tea & raspberry lemonade.

A bright and colorful fruit salad of watermelon and cantaloupe garnished with day lilies and fresh mint (all grown on the property) was served to wandering guests.

This is a fun idea and great conversational prop for a rehearsal dinner BBQ as well.

Bouquets & Cakes: Sunflowers

Yesterday was the summer solstice, the first day of summer and what says summer more than the cheerful sunflower!

Also known as the gentle giant of the American prairie, the sunflower captivated Vincent van Gogh and was the solemn religious symbol of the Aztec.

Across the world, sunflowers have been adopted as a symbol of light, hope and innocence... it's no wonder sunflowers are a popular choice for weddings!
